Jerome H. Lipman has been awarded the 2012 Thomas R. Porter Lifetime Achievement Award. The award was presented at the recent NACVA convention in Dallas, Texas, and was received by Lawrence A. Horwich on behalf of Mr. Lipman.
The National Association of Certified Valuators and Analysts (NACVA) supports the users of business and intangible asset valuation services and financial forensic services, including damages determinations of all kinds and fraud detection and prevention, by training and certifying financial professionals in these disciplines.
In 2007, NACVA lost one of its most esteemed colleagues, Thomas R. Porter.
Those who knew Tom considered him the professional’s professional. He was a natural leader and was the guy that many in the industry aspired to be when they grew up. He kept the bar high and never deviated from what was right. Tom was always there to help his colleagues when they faced their most challenging cases. Tom was a very active and influential member of both his community and his church. He was one of the most gracious and humble individuals, always the first to acknowledge the accomplishments of others and the last to take credit. And most important, Tom adored his family. Our lives were better because of our personal and professional friendships with Tom.
Although Tom is no longer with us, he has left an indelible mark upon our profession and upon all of those who knew him. In his memory, NACVA established the Thomas R. Porter Lifetime Achievement Award. This annual honor is presented to the individual who exemplifies the qualities that Tom displayed passionately throughout his life and within our profession. The Thomas R. Porter Lifetime Achievement Award is awarded to the member who has demonstrated his or her exemplary character, leadership, and professional achievements.
